In 2018, Florida became the first state in the country to offer an education savings account program for students enrolled in public schools.
The program provides parents access to an education savings account (ESA) worth $1,200 to pay for tuition and fees related to part-time tutoring, summer and after-school literacy and/or math programs, instructional materials, and more.
The students who qualify
The New Worlds Scholarship is available to VPK and K-5th grade public school students who have a substantial reading or math deficiency. Students who are classified as English Language Learners who are enrolled in a program or receiving services from the school district will receive first priority. The program is first-come, first-served with $29 million budgeted for the scholarship.
